Description

The instant #1 New York Times and USA Today bestseller, a story about a woman caught in a dangerous web of obsessive love, trying to find a way out before it’s too late… this new, updated edition is a “barn-burner” (New York Post) and Colleen Hoover’s darkest romantic thriller since Verity.

Sloan will go through hell and back for those she loves. And she does so, every single day. Caught up with the alluring Asa Jackson, a notorious drug trafficker, Sloan has finally found a lifeline to cling to, even if it’s meant compromising her morals. She was in dire straits trying to pay for her brother’s care until she met Asa. But as Sloan became emotionally and economically reliant on him, he in turn developed a disturbing obsession with her—one that becomes increasingly dangerous every day.

When undercover DEA agent Carter enters the picture, Sloan’s surprised to feel an immediate attraction between them, despite knowing that if Asa finds out, he will kill him. And Asa has always been a step ahead of everyone in his life, including Sloan. No one has ever gotten in his way.

No one except Carter.

Together, Sloan and Carter must find a way out before it’s too late…

  • Old book

This book was previously released through another digital reading site, so now I have paid for this book twice. Seeing the release date, I ignorantly thought this was a new book. It is not. Do not waste your time, it’s poorly written. Getting tired of the same old tune with Colleen Hoover.

I absolutely love this book. The details of each character and how each of them had such different personalities was really portrayed and I was sucked in right away. I couldn’t put this book down ! The ending was great and I 100% recommend

This is by far the worst book I’ve read by Colleen. The plot is dumb and so are the characters- it’s like a high schooler wrote it.
  • Avoid: Unbelievably Cliche

After enjoying several other Hoover novels and seeing the 2023 release date I downloaded Too Late with excitement. She warns in the prologue that this book is graphic, and those scenes she writes well. The one star is that this entire novel is a series of absurd tropes and off putting cliches. The characters have no depth, no real backstories, and most of the “love” is built on lusty longings between the trapped female protagonist and her male savior. The themes are tired and trite in today’s culture. If you asked someone to think of all the generic tropes associated with a women trapped by a crazed, but physically appealing man, Hoover hits them.

Some books just stick with you long after and this is one of those. I have never hated a character so much and sympathized with them at the same time!
  • Underrated book

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book deserves more credits, so much more. From 4 @colleenhoover books I already read, this one is my #1 (for now). I somehow called it a love triangle - Carter/Luke, Sloan and Asa. 𝑺𝒍𝒐𝒂𝒏 - first I thought (at some point I still do) she’s stupid and kinda smart about it, but on the other hand I do get her. She didn’t have it easy but had hope for the better. 𝑨𝒔𝒂 - wasn’t and still isn’t my favorite but I gained a little sympathy towards him during chapters from his past. Maybe if not his addiction and obsession with Sloan, he would be a cool guy. 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒓/𝑳𝒖𝒌𝒆 - I liked him from the very beginning. Subtle (🤦🏼‍♀️ 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑛𝑜 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑐𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑒 𝑎 𝑔𝑢𝑦 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑐𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑚𝑦 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝐼 𝑤𝑟𝑜𝑡𝑒 ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑛𝑎𝑚𝑒 😂😂). He was the “hope” Sloan needed and more, so much more at the end. He was just written perfectly.
